Apple’s music streaming service launches in Singapore with free 3 month trial

iOS 8.4 dropped last night, and once you update your iDevice, you’ll discover that the Music app has been updated with a new, colourful icon. Launch it for the first time, and it’ll ask you if you want to try out Apple Music for free, for the first three months. Apple Music gets you access to the millions of songs in Apple’s catalogue, which you can stream over the air or download to your device.

Apple Music also has a ‘For You‘ section which asks you to list your music preferences, and then it’ll give you some artists and songs it thinks you’ll like. Based on my J-rock history, it pretty much nailed it by recommending me the singer Miyavi. But then, I really don’t know why it’s asking me to listen to a One Directions playlist…just no.

Apple Music also comes with people-curated playlists based on your preferences, and recommended playlists created by humans. .

Singapore is apparently not within the 100 countries for the new Beats 1 radio broadcast, as it can’t be found in the new Music app. You can also get Apple Music on OS X by updating to OS X 10.10.3 with the new iTunes app, which was also released last night.

After the 3-month trial ends, users will be automatically billed S$9.98 for individual membership unless they turn auto-renewal off no later than 24 hours before the end of the trial. Family membership costs S$14.98.
